About Edward Lloyd

“A highly poetic and expressive performer, alongside beautiful tonal colouring creating a notable silence in the audience indicative of their instinctive communicative ability.”

Pascal Nemirovski

Since making his concerto debut with the Oxford Festival Orchestra under Felix Kirkby in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford, Edward’s recital performances have taken him to the Liverpool Philharmonic, Bridgewater Hall, Steinway Hall, Conway Hall, Trinity College Chapel and, most recently, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, in a recital of Liszt’s Harmonies poétiques et religieuses. He makes his Wigmore Hall recital debut in the 2026–27 season.

Edward has been a prizewinner in numerous international competitions, including the Liszt Society International Piano Competition, the Christopher Duke, Beethoven Society of Europe and Vienna International Piano Competitions. He is also an active chamber musician and has won first prizes in both the Dorothy Richardson and Alexander Young Competitions for vocal accompaniment. In 2026 he was selected as a Leeds Song Young Artist.

Edward began playing the piano at the age of eleven. He studied at Chetham’s School of Music and is now at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with Professor Graham Scott, where he is supported by the Drapers’ Music Scholarship and Oglesby Charitable Trust Scholarships.

The Davison Young Musicians Foundation appointed Edward to its Board in 2026, and he has been an Awards Advocate for the DYMF since 2024. In 2026 he served as a judge for the DYMF Exceptional Musicianship Award at New Space Oxford and the Liszt Academy. Also in 2026, he was selected as a Drake Calleja Trust Scholar, and he is supported by the Craxton Memorial Trust.
